Raleigh are one of the oldest and most well-known bike companies in the world, thanks to their huge success with early safety bicycles; lightweight Roadsters; cult classics like the RSW and Chopper, and some big professional bike race wins in the 70s and 80s. Beginning in Nottingham in the late 1880s, the company expanded rapidly and by 1913 it was the largest manufacturer of bicycles in the world, though production slowed down through the two World Wars, by the late 1940s the lightweight Roadster was selling phenomonally well in the US and their high profile continued in to the 1970s. Raleigh bought out several smaller brands over the years adding Carlton, Humber and BSA to their portfolio, they were themselves then bought by competitor Tube Investments creating the massive Ti-Raleigh business in 1960. Raleigh's racing success arguably reached a peak in 1980 when Joop Zoetemelk won the Tour de France riding an iconic red Team Ti-Raleigh, they continued to sponsor road teams and also had some success racing MTBs in the 90s with Dave Baker.

The 1990s incarnation of Raleigh's Special Products Division (known as RSP for short), was a cutting edge bike building facility that specialized in mixed material bonded bikes labelled Dyna-Tech. The bonding process allowed RSP to mix and match titanium, lightweight steel and Metal Matrix in various combinations to offer the best qualities of each material where it was needed, and still keep the price down. The bonded Dyna-Tech frames turned out to be extremely versatile and were ridden to victory in MTB, cyclocross, track and road races across the World. RSP also offered their by now legendary hand-built steel touring and randonneur frames, all from their Nottingham factory.

The 1993 Dyna-Tech MT4 was a frame only option from Raleigh's Special Products Division. Comprising titanium main tubes, chainstays and dropouts, with Mn-Mo (Manganese-Molybdenum) seat stays bonded into specialy designed lugs. The frame was designed for a short travel suspension fork or suspension corrected rigid fork, as expected with all that titanium it is super light too. The metallic sparkle paint work is exceptional, this bike having once been partially built but never ridden, it was someone's highly specced build at one time but never made it out of the showroom.

The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. If there are any minor issues worth noting we will do so in the overview section below. Please take a good look at the detailed photos so you can see the cosmetic condition of the frame before you buy.

HELP SECTION

Seat Tube (ctc) - we measure from the centre of the bottom bracket shell up to the centre line of the top tube to give a consistent measurement regardless of frame design (ctc means centre to centre).

Top Tube (ctc) - this is measured from the centre of the head tube to the centre of the seat tube, along the centre of the top tube.

Chainstay Length - measured from the centre of the bottom bracket shell to the centre point of the rear dropout.

Wheelbase - measured from the centre of the front fork dropout to the centre point of the rear dropout.

Front & Rear Spacing - measured from the inside of one dropout to the other. The dropouts on steel frames can be stretched or squeezed a few mm but it's always best to avoid this if possible, aluminium or carbon frames should never be stretched.
