Wohoooooooooooooo.
What. A. Beauty.
You may be able to sense our excitement here. Our very own 1983 Colnago Nuovo Mexico with Campagnolo 50th Anniversary.
Made famous by none other than Guiseppe Saronni in 1982, the Colnago Nuovo Mexico is more than just a bicycle, it's a piece of art.
Built using Columbus SL tubing, the Nuovo Mexico is identified by the unique crimping on the top tube and the down tube. A special technique that paved the way for the famous Gilco tubing used on the Colnago Masters later that decade.
The model we have here is finished in a rather special and rare colourway. Built in 1983, and complete with Campagnolo's 50th Anniversary groupset, released in the same year, it's a very very special bike with the very very best kit; 3ttt handlebar & stem, Ambrosio Synthesis Super Professional rims, San Marco Concor saddle, and of course the best handlebar tape, Benotto Cellotape.
We're sure you'll share our excitement as you peruse through the photo gallery. If you wish to see it in the flesh then pop in to our London shop. It's a bike that needs to be seen in the flesh if you get the chance. Of course we can safely ship to any corner of the world too.
As with all our bikes, it's been fully stripped, inspected & professionally polished & re-built. The frame is straight & true without any dents or dings - please inspect the photos for cosmetic condition as we photograph the bikes so you can see the exact condition of the bike before purchasing.

The bike that started the carbon revolution, the most influential bike of the past 30 years, the bike that changed it all. Have a read around online and you'll find these quotes written about the Kestrel 4000. They're not wrong.
Patented in 1991 by Brent J. Trimble, this was the 1st commercial example of a composite carbon fibre bicycle frame. Produced in 1986, and finally launched for the 1987 season, this really did take the cycling industry by storm. Officially brought to us by Cycle Composites Inc, the company set up by Trek founder Bevil Hogg and Tom French to help commercialise the genius of Trimble’s designs, but under the name of the Kestrel 4000. It really did change it all.
By 1987 it was on the cover of every cycling magazine and beyond. The use of carbon fibre wasn't particularly new to cycling by this point, with examples dating back as far the 1970s, but never before had we seen a one-piece carbon frame, especially one that looked so futuristic.
Like it, loathe it, or simply think it's 'OK', you cannot deny the Kestrel it's crown. It really is a piece of cycling history.
Our example is from 1990, towards the latter end of the 4000s production, which ended in 1992. Kitted out with Campagnolo Croce D'Aune parts, including the iconic Delta brakes.
The parts are in excellent condition throughout, the frame does have chips to the paint as you can see in the photos, but the paint on these frames was prone to this. It's been fully stripped & re-built in the workshop by our skilled mechanics but originality has been preserved. It's ready to ride away, but this is one for the collectors, surely.

Quite possibly the most sought after name on the vintage cycling scene, Colnago earned the status due to the genius of it’s founder, Ernesto Colnago. From the humble beginnings in the 1950s, Colnago became the maker that everyone looked to, and the bike that every cyclist wanted to own. This is likely due to their dominance on the world racing circuit, and in no doubt due to the success of the long standing partnership with the great Eddy Merckx.
The Colnago Mexico owes its introduction to that very man, built to celebrate Merckx’ infamous hour record in 1972, and it was 10 years later that another household name, Guiseppe Saronni, made this ‘New’ Mexico model famous in 1982.
The frames were built using Columbus SL tubing but the Nuovo Mexico is identified by the unique crimping on the top tube and the down tube. This special technique paved the way for the famous Gilco tubing used on the Colnago Masters later that decade and has now become an iconic part of Ernesto’s repertoire which is often imitated but never duplicated, as they say.
Now’s your chance to join the legends and own the real deal. This one’s the particularly special 2nd generation Ofmega Premier Edition, their top of the range gear set in the 1980s and the ‘signature edition’ was produced especially for Colnagos with Ernesto’s signature all over the place. Highly regarded as some of the very best kit available at the time, some say even better than Campagnolo! As brakes weren’t included in the groupset, Universal were kind enough to bring a Colnago signature edition brake set to compliment the Ofmega kit, and 3ttt joined the party with a stunning pantographed stem to finish it all off.
If you're looking for a bike to ride in L'Eroica, Anjou Velo, Velo Retro etc then look no further, this Colnago Nuovo Mexico is the perfect choice. It’s fully compliant with the rules and will certainly turn heads at any of the retro rides out there.
The bike's been taken apart, inspected & re-built in our workshop so we know everything's working as it should. The frame is straight & true without any dents or dings - please inspect the photos for cosmetic condition, we've photographed the bike in detail so you can see the exact condition before purchasing.
