The relatively small world of professional cycling has very few household names, Eddy Merckx is one of the hallowed few. Nicknamed 'The Cannibal' because of his voracious appetite for winning every race, Eddy has earned that oft-touted but little deserved label of 'legend'. Not only was the Belgian a hugely successful bike racer but he also soon gained a reputation as an excellent bike designer, starting his eponymous brand in 1980 with builders trained by the famed Ugo De Rosa. Eddy Merckx frames are now highly desirable, especially in the team colours of the various professional outfits that rode his bikes, such as the black and pink Team Telekom and the iconic red and green Team 7-Eleven bikes.

The Corsa was a middle of the range frame from Merckx, but middle of the range in the Merckx line up was still extremely well made, light and with race-winning geometry. Made from Columbus SL tubing and featuring the same attention to detail as the slightly lighter Corsa Extra frame the Corsa was hand made in Belgium and was available in a range of team paint jobs.

This particular colourway bears a strong resemblence to the 7-Eleven team livery, but with a slight variation. It features the two stripes in the paint design, which was supposed to be reserved only for team bikes, but it's never been identified as part of any team. A curious one, but wonderful nonetheless!

If you're taking part in L'Eroica or a similar vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!

The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. If there are any minor issues worth noting we will do so in the overview section below. Please take a good look at the detailed photos so you can see the cosmetic condition of the frame before you buy.
