Since their early beginnings Atala have been involved with bike racing in Italy, founder Angelo Gatti was instrumental in introducing the Giro d'Italia the year after his company was founded in 1908. Atala's history is inextricably tied to the Giro, having been piloted to victory in the first two editions of the race, and winning as a team in 1912, they went on to win a large number of stage victories over an 80 year sponsorship period. Great competitors to Bianchi, Atala were one of the largest producers of bikes in Italy during the bike boom and are still going today.

This late 1980s Atala Special is built from 'Tretubi Aelle' Columbus tubing (whereby the three main tubes are Columbus Aelle), with chromed dropouts, chainstay and fork crown, plus Atala branded dropouts made by Gipiemme. The original red metallic finish is still in great condition and the frame is ready to be built up and ridden again. A well finished frame from a golden period in Atala's long history, off the back of four years in a row being ridden to victory in the track world championships.

If you're taking part in L'Eroica or a similar vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!

The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. If there are any minor issues worth noting we will do so in the overview section below. Please take a good look at the detailed photos so you can see the cosmetic condition of the frame before you buy.
