Quite possibly the most sought after name on the vintage cycling scene, Colnago earned the status due to the genius of it’s founder, Ernesto Colnago. From the humble beginnings in the 1950s, Colnago became the maker that everyone looked to, and the bike that every cyclist wanted to own. This is likely due to their dominance on the world racing circuit, and in no doubt due to the success of the long standing partnership with the great Eddy Merckx.

The Colnago Elegant was at one time the lightest frame set Colnago produced and was available in a number of different guises, built from Columbus EL or Tange Prestige tubing and often with a ‘Word Perfect’ or ‘Decor’ paint scheme. Colnago’s craftsmen used the best available tube sets, their proprietary lugs and the ‘Precisa’ straight bladed fork to build a stunning and legendary bike.

This particular Colnago Elegant Decor is from the mid 90s and sports a full top of the range Campagnolo Record 8 speed groupset with Campagnolo Vento 16-HPW wheels. Using the Tange Prestige Competition tube set this is one of the rarer versions of the Elegant, and with the Precisa fork was at the forefront of steel competition road bikes before aluminium took over. It’s pretty hard to ignore the purple Decor paint job with the fork and lugs picked out in chrome and it’s still one of the greatest and most recognisable colour ways ever produced.

The bike's been taken apart, inspected & re-built in our workshop so we know everything's working as it should. The frame is straight & true without any dents or dings - please inspect the photos for cosmetic condition, we've photographed the bike in detail so you can see the exact condition before purchasing.
