Though perhaps not the best well known of the French builders, LeJeune were a small but high quality outfit producing bikes for Tour winners and discerning amateur customers alike. Out of their factory in Paris, LeJeune also mass-produced road and city bikes from the 1950s into the 1980s. The LeJeune branded bikes ridden by the professional teams or for custom orders were often built by the famed constructeur Bernard Carre to a very high quality.
If you're taking part in L'Eroica or any other vintage event, this frame is of the correct age, so you won't be disqualified for being a rule breaker!
The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. If there are any minor issues worth noting we will do so in the overview section below. Please take a good look at the detailed photos so you can see the cosmetic condition of the frame before you buy.OVERVIEW

Built in Japan by Kuwahara, and imported to the UK by Evian in London, Hirame were available throughout the 70s and early 80s and offered a range of high quality frames at a great value for money price. Japan was the best mass producer of bikes through the 1970s and Kuwahara produced a huge number of well built bikes for various brands and markets. Hirame frames are generally built with Ishiwata tubing and neat cast lugs, the number of braze-ons usually indicates how high up the range the bike sits.
The Kando was Hirame's entry level model, and though put together with Hi-Tension steel and without a full array of braze-ons it was still hand-built in Japan by Kuwahara to a very high standard. The Kando was designed for ample clearance front and rear allowing the customer to use a 700c tubular racing wheel if desired, but more practically suited to a wider 27" wheel with mudguards. Like most Hirame models the Kando was only available in one colour, in this case a deep metallic red.

Though perhaps better known for its mass produced racing bikes produced in France through the 50, 60s and 70s, Gitane sponsored a number of high profile professional teams and have had no less than five Tour de France winners riding for them, including greats such as Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon! Gitane have been making bicycle parts and bikes since 1926 and at their height were one of the largest exporters of high quality racing bikes to the USA.
The Gitane Inter Club was an entry level road frame with many of the features of their higher end bikes, including the distinctive honeycomb or 'spiders web' dropouts. Often specced with all French made components they were a widely available export model during the bike boom of the 1970s.

A neatly TIG welded road frame built from Columbus Thron tubing with a straight blade fork and room for a 28c tyre. This frame was probably one of the last to feature a 1" threaded fork and down tube shifter bosses putting it somewhere in the mid 90s. Though the decals are a little worn the paint is in good order.
The frame's been carefully checked by one of our mechanics to confirm the alignment's correct and there's no damage to the threads. A very nicely built 1980s road frame with some high end features. Though branded as a Bianchi we doubt it is one, the minimal internal brake routing, vertical dropouts and shot in stays all point to a frame built for racing, the down tube ovalises at the bottom bracket into a purpose made lug which is designed to increase stiffness too. The fork supplied is a new old stock chromed one that suits the frame very well.
